The 24th Annual Celebration Luncheon presented by Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County was held at the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, this year focusing on the theme "Media Literacy." With 6 powerhouse co-chairs including Louise Bruderle of West Coast Woman, Kelley Lavin of Gulf Shore Media, Lisl Lang of SRQ Magazine, Diane McFarlin of the Herald Tribune, Julie Milton of Scene Magazine and Lisa Walsh of the Observer Group, the event sent out strong messages about the current status of the media and its impact on girls. "She Knows Where She's Going" Award winners this year were Flori Roberts and Pamela Truitt, both women who are strong, smart and bold. The "Donna Brace Ogilvie Board of Trustees" Award was given to Susan Jones of JCI Chemical Inc. and the Jones Family Foundation. Girl of the Year award was presented to 13 year old Shayla Brown.
